Full Plates, Tight Shorts, a Nation of Chronic Complainers Where Misery Comes Before Joy

you have plateful ? When you are asked to do something else, do you immediately respond with a bad attitude and complain inside your plate is "soooo full of" you can not do anything else.

Let's be honest, our country has evolved in people with chronic complainers who actively look at what works and what does not truly enjoy the pathetic. Pick up the paper and read about all the complaints of anti-smokers to progress against (not in my backyard). These complainers consistently wear tight shorts that would be constantly uncomfortable as they attend to their daily activities.

If we only take a moment to really think about our grandparents who really had a full plate, but he continued to embrace life with an attitude of joy instead of misery and wealth, rather than scarcity, I believe that many will change their shorts or beliefs.

My father, the family legally immigrated from Sweden along with thousands of others in the early 1920's. These immigrants homesteaded 40 acres in northern Wisconsin. Liquid water is a well with hand pump about 100 meters from the cabin to sleep. The bathroom is an upgrade. Heat was fed by a large cast iron wood stove in a small 2 room main house consists of living and dining room with kitchen.

grandfather 35 years grown wheat and maize, with a small herd of dairy cows. Grandma tended 5 children, chickens, pigs, and from day to day activities of farm life. Between cooking on a wood stove, helping her husband to learn English, the management of limited money, I told my father that my grandmother never complained. To see a tremendous amount of abundance to his family in America, and she is so grateful to her children and grandchildren, her future could be part of that size.

Like many other small farmers, these two individuals the next day early in the morning, worked all day and went to bed late at night. They have raised 4 sons and one daughter. Their grandchildren and great grandchildren have graduated from high school, some went to college earning a Masters and PhDs.

I remember my grandmother always has fresh rolls, pastries, fruit and cheese at the table with a pot of hot coffee ready for any visitor. How she managed to cook 3 main meals each day not to mention snacks on wood burning stoves and all have a positive attitude still confuses me.

years later, when she lived with us part of the year, she shared with me many stories about farm life and her early years in Sweden. I never heard her complain about the hardness of his life. She always encouraged me and my cousin to embrace a positive attitude. Her little phrases like: "You get more with honey than with vinegar" or "Keep on trying and you'll get there"are still with me some 50 years later.

So the next time you hear someone say, "My plate is full, " perhaps you should suggest to him or her to eat some things and stop complaining. Because they are really lucky to have a full board where you can choose joy and plenty more misery and hardship.
