Chicken Little Spotted on Wall Street - Market Up - Market Down - Stress Up!

It's scary out there! Wherever we look we are bombarded with more bad news, the global economic crisis, housing recession, the market is tanking, the currency goes up and down (mostly down), energy costs, job instability, and life savings disappear, and retirement are becoming a distant dream. The bad news just goes on and on. Some day Chicken Little can clearly be heard screaming, "The sky is falling, the sky falling!" Normally, we would laugh at the 'Chicken Little', but these days we are beginning to wonder if the little old chicken is right!

It would be safe to say that if you have access to television, the Internet, and you're thinking person then you are probably stressed out! Every day striving to bring new worst case, our first instinct may be running for cover. We are just people, most of the current chaos is well beyond the control of any one of us. I do not know about the rest of you, but personally I really dislike not being able to control these factors have a major impact on our lives now and for future plans! Somedays I feel really ticked off at what is happening, and other days we just feel totally stuck.

Well, it seems like we're in good company. Many recent studies report people are experiencing increased stress, have difficulty sleeping, feeling irritable or angry, and suffer from fatigue. Sound familiar? Some people suffer headaches, gastrointestinal upsets, muscle tension, and even heart or respiratory symptoms may worsen. Stress manifests itself physically, and yet it seems that many people choose to ignore the warning signs and actually show that the "handle stress well. " It's worrying, because if you ignore the physical symptoms of stress things are just going to get worse, and unfortunately for some, that will spell the disease.

But enough doom and gloom! Why not upgrade active coping with stress?

While all that is "out there" is chaotic, and you may be unsure of where to invest your hard earned money and dreams of the future, you can still invest in your future by upgrading the ability to cope with stress on an ongoing basis. It is about the only thing you have 100% control over. One of the fundamental aspects of our model " Living Balance" is active confrontation. This means taking a proactive stance towards boldly stress management. With Active coping can build skills that lead to resistance, increase your ability to bounce back, keep some balance in your life, and maintain a level of confidence in handling whatever comes (or thrown) your way.

Start small and you'll see some instant results with this strategy:

- Learn the info, but avoid hype

- Limit 24 / 7 cycle of recycled bad news,

- Focus on "what is " rather than "what if"

- Don 't waste energy regretting past decisions: let him, learn from it, or upgrade it

- Keep your future goals in terms of: time to convert or modify a step or two if necessary

- do the math. As much as you do not want to look right now: open accounts, check your credit cards, investments and bank statements, and know your budget. It's your money, take responsibility

- Stick with the basics: keep exercising, keep eating well, and make sure you get at least 6 hours of sleep each night
